On behalf of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, meetings were held on March 26 and 27, 2025, with representatives of the Federal Commission of Integrity of the Republic of Iraq. This is an independent government body responsible for combating corruption in the specified country.
The head of the said Commission has visited the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia twice, first on October 10, 2023, and then on February 20, 2024. Afterwards Mr. Igor Krasnov and Mr. Haidar Hanoun signed, respectively, a Memorandum of Understanding and a Cooperation Program for 2024-2025.
The current visit of the delegation took place in development of the agreements reached by the heads of the departmental agencies.
The experts shared their experience in developing fundamental anti-corruption laws in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Iraq, and discussed the practice of applying legislation aimed at preventing conflicts of interest and disclosing financial information.
Following the meeting, the parties positively assessed the developing contacts and outlined ways to deepen them, including in a practical manner.
Our Iraqi colleagues expressed a desire to take part in educational events in the area of combating corruption, organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation on a permanent basis.
The next meeting is planned to be held this year and will be devoted to issues of using modern digital technologies in combating corruption.
