Greeting his colleague, Mr. Krasnov noted that the development of Russian-Saudi relations continues to actively pick up its pace in a friendly and constructive manner. "This was repeatedly emphasized during the negotiations by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and His Royal Highness Mohammed Bin Salman Al Saud. Following the vector set by them, we, for our part, are gradually increasing contacts between the prosecutorial services of Russia and Saudi Arabia," said the Prosecutor General of Russia.
Mr. Igor Krasnov confirmed that the Russian side will take part in the round table planned by the cooperation program, where the possibilities of using administrative and civil law mechanisms for protecting the rights of citizens, society and the state in prosecutorial work will be discussed.
“I think that the practice of regularly holding off-site educational events will also contribute to a deeper immersion in the specifics of our legal systems and the approaches used, including in the area of combating crime,” said the Prosecutor General of Russia, proposing to establish cooperation in this area as well.
The Russian Prosecutor General recalled that six months ago, at a meeting in Rio de Janeiro, the topic of resuming direct flights between Russia and Saudi Arabia was discussed. "Unfortunately, this issue has not yet been removed from the agenda. Today, the journey from Moscow to Riyadh takes quite a lot of time, which, in turn, does not fully contribute to the development of tourism and the attraction of mutual investments," he noted. "I believe that we, within the framework of our competence, could influence the resolution of this problem."
In this regard, Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib assured that work in this direction is being actively carried out and is in its final stages, and in the nearest future the issue will be finally resolved.
The head of the Russian supervisory agency reminded his foreign colleague of the invitation to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June of this year, within the framework of which the Russian Prosecutor General's Office is holding its own session, where issues of legal protection of Russian business and foreign investors are going to be discussed.
In conclusion, Mr. Igor Krasnov expressed his readiness for constructive, mutually beneficial cooperation on the widest range of issues of interest to both parties.
For reference : Mr. Igor Krasnov and Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib are meeting today for the third time. The interaction between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the two countries is carried out on a regular basis, including at the leadership level. In October 2022, Mr. Igor Krasnov, as part of a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib , during which the Cooperation program for 2023-2024 was signed. As part of its implementation, events were held to exchange experience in combating environmental offenses, economic crimes, cybercrimes, including terrorist and extremist ones, as well as protecting the rights of minors.
In October 2024, the Prosecutors General of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia met on the sidelines of the first G20 Heads of Prosecution Services Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
