Welcoming the Attorney General of the Republic of Angola, Hélder Fernando Pitta Gróz, the head of the Russian supervisory agency noted that today, while implementing previously reached agreements on the exchange of experience and best practices, an interdepartmental Cooperation Program will be signed.

This document provides for the implementation of measures aimed at introducing digital technologies into the activities of the prosecutor's offices of the two countries, exchanging information and experience in combating terrorism and extremism, illegal migration and human trafficking, intensifying cooperation in the field of extradition, providing legal assistance in criminal cases, including on issues of identifying, arresting, confiscating and returning assets obtained by criminal means.

The Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized that the Program is a practical implementation of the previously concluded Memorandum and will contribute to the further strengthening of the existing ties at the expert level.

Mr. Igor Krasnov expressed confidence that one of the most important areas for the development of bilateral contacts is the professional training of personnel.

“For foreign citizens wishing to study in higher education programs at our departmental University, there is an opportunity to study the Russian language for free during one academic year at the preparatory faculty of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia,” noted the head of the Russian supervisory agency.

The Russian Prosecutor General also emphasized the relevance of the previously expressed proposal on the participation of Angolan prosecutors in educational courses at the University of the Prosecutor's Office on the topic of combating corruption, cybercrime, illegal arms and drug trafficking, and other pressing issues that require experts to constantly acquire new knowledge and skills.

“You can choose the topics that are of greatest interest to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Angola, and our representatives will create special training programs,” the head of the Russian supervisory agency emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Igor Krasnov declared the openness of the Russian prosecutor's office to professional dialogue in a wide range of areas. "We are ready to use all the means at our disposal to expand cooperation, exchange experience and best practices in the area of protecting citizens' rights and combating crime," the Prosecutor General of Russia noted.

For reference: the first meeting of the Prosecutor General of Russia and the Attorney General of Angola took place during the first summit of the heads of the G20 prosecutorial services in Rio de Janeiro. Following the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, which established the procedure for interaction between the prosecutors' offices of the two countries on a wide range of legal issues.

During a trilateral meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Yamila Peña Ojeda and the head of the Cuban General Control Directorate Mirian Marban González, Mr. Igor Krasnov particularly noted the personal trusting relationship between the leaders of the two countries, and also emphasized that their contacts are the foundation of a strong, unbreakable Russian-Cuban friendship and cooperation in all significant areas.

Mr. Igor Krasnov called the interaction with colleagues extremely productive. He spoke about the participation of Russian prosecutors in the International Conference on Criminal Law in Havana and two joint program events held this year, and also recalled the recent training of Cuban prosecutors at the University of the Prosecutor's Office of Russia.

"Currently, active work is underway between the departmental University and the National School of the Prosecutor General's Office of Cuba on draft written agreements in the field of educational and scientific research activities," the Russian Prosecutor General reported. "I expect them to be signed as soon as possible and implemented promptly."

Noting the relevance of issues related to the fight against corruption, the head of the Russian supervisory agency particularly emphasized that the Agreement on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and the General Control Directorate of Cuba, which was being signed, will become the basis for the development of professional contacts in this area.

“The document provides for the possibility of coordinating work within the framework of key international formats, promoting common positions, and joint participation in legal anti-corruption education of young people,” said Mr. Igor Krasnov.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency confirmed his readiness to continue constructive and fruitful dialogue on all issues of mutual interest.

At the end of the meeting, the Prosecutor General of Russia wished his foreign colleagues prosperity, success and fortitude, quoting Fidel Castro: “Let the Motherland look at you with pride!”

Reference: The General General Control Directorate of Cuba is the specialized agency for combating corruption and reports directly to the President. Interaction with the Cuban anti-corruption agency was first established during Mr. Igor Krasnov's visit to Havana in April last year.
