The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov met the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk.
When greeting the head of Belarus, he noted that with no other prosecution services in the world do Russian prosecutors cooperate as closely as with Belarusian colleagues. Priorities of the mutual work for the near future are annually coordinated with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, taking into account the current international and regional situation.
Igor Krasnov emphasized that common tasks are addressed, among other things, thanks to the Joint Collegium of the Prosecutor Generals’ Offices of Belarus and Russia created within the framework of the Union State.
A particular mutual concern was expressed by the Prosecutor General of Russia regarding external attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia and Belarus, inter alia, by way of activation of extremist and terrorist groups.
“These challenges have assumed a special resonance in connection with the developments in Afghanistan. Certainly they necessitate making adjustments in issues of ensuring security in the whole CIS area,” the head of the Russian supervision authority stated.
He noted that issues of protection of the rights and freedoms of socially vulnerable categories of people, environmental conservation, combatting corruption, as well as countering the growth of domestic violence, including against minors, are still in the spotlight. In this respect, high workloads lies down on law enforcement authorities, in particular the prosecution service.
Igor Krasnov expressed his conviction that joint efforts and a deepened interagency dialogue are needed to ensure law and order.
“The Russian prosecution service, within the framework of entrusted powers, uses all instruments and resources required for that. We are always aimed at constructive cooperation in any mutually acceptable forms,” stressed the Prosecutor General of Russia.
In conclusion, Igor Krasnov wished Aleksandr Lukashenko and the people of Belarus well-being, peace, and prosperity.
