Welcoming his colleague, the Prosecutor General of Russia recalled that in his speech at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council held in Moscow in early October, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin emphasized that for Russia the Commonwealth countries are the closest neighbors, friends and strategic partners.

Igor Krasnov noted that the similarity of views and approaches of Russia and Kyrgyzstan to solving the primary tasks of ensuring security in the modern world creates a favorable atmosphere for strengthening relations between prosecutors.

“I believe that the time has come to improve our interaction within the framework of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states. For more efficient work of the association, prompt response to new common challenges and threats, I propose to expand the Secretariat of the CCPG by including representatives of the Prosecutor's Offices of other Commonwealth countries, inter alia, by including any of your subordinates. I am convinced that this will benefit all participants,” the head of the Russian supervisory agency said.

Igor Krasnov emphasized that the participation in the Council’s meetings of representatives of tax services, financial intelligence agencies and other industry structures will certainly contribute to increasing the practical orientation of the Council’s activities.

The Prosecutor General of Russia announced that, as part of the implementation of a plan of joint activities, a meeting of Russian experts is being prepared in Moscow to exchange experience in the sphere of search for and recovery of assets obtained by criminal means. Also, in December, visit of prosecutors to Bishkek is scheduled in order to share their practice of protecting the rights of entrepreneurs with colleagues.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency drew attention to the fact that his constant focus is on the issues of transferring Kyrgyz citizens convicted in Russia for further serving of their sentences. More than 80 such decisions have been implemented this year.

The Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic reported on the busy agenda of his visit to Russia and meetings with colleagues from other agencies, and also asked for further assistance from the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia in resolving issues of the transfer of convicted citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

“I confirm the commitment of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office to constructive interaction on any issues of mutual interest,” Igor Krasnov said. “I am confident that friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic will always be a reliable basis for our cooperation.”

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed an Agreement on Cooperation between Military Prosecutor’s Offices.

For information:

The basis for interaction between the Prosecutor General's Offices of Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic was laid by the Agreement on Cooperation signed in 2011. The heads of the supervisory agencies of the two countries are working together through the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states, the Interstate Council for Countering Corruption, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism. Igor Krasnov visited Kyrgyzstan twice on working visits. In 2022, the Prosecutor General of Russia met not only with foreign colleagues, but also with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, who highly assessed the level of interaction between the supervisory agencies of the two countries. Active interaction is also carried out in the sphere of extradition and legal assistance in criminal cases. The first negotiations between Igor Krasnov and Maksat Asanaliev took place in July 2024 “on the sidelines” of the 22nd Prosecutors General Meeting of the SCO Member States in Bishkek.
