Igor Krasnov arrived in Minsk, where a meeting of the Joint Board of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus will take place

At the airport, the Prosecutor General of Russia was met by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus Boris Gryzlov, Deputies Prosecutor General of Belarus Alexey Stuk and Gennady Dysko.

Russian prosecutors intend to discuss the practice of supervising the implementation of legislation when announcing and carrying out searches for persons who have committed crimes with their Belarusian colleagues.

The Joint Board has been held since 2008 to coordinate the interaction of the Prosecutor's Offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. During this time, eight meetings were held, the recent one in Nizhny Novgorod on October 20, 2023. The issues of countering migration crime and illegal arms trafficking were covered in detail during that meeting.

According to the decision of the Board, more than 60 different events have been held since 2009, including in 2024 - in the sphere of countering sanctions pressure, corruption, dedicated to the review of court decisions in criminal cases, the protection of water, forests, specially protected natural areas and others. A working meeting on countering drug trafficking from abroad is planned for this month.

Prosecutors of Russia and Belarus are constantly intensifying cooperation. Meetings at the level of heads of departments and at the expert level are held in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

Contacts between the leadership of the supervisory agencies of the two countries are of utmost importance for interaction. They regularly take place on the sidelines of meetings of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General (CCPG), Interstate Council for Countering Corruption (ICCC) and other international fora. From 2010 to 2024, more than 20 such meetings were held.

Thus, in October 2021, Igor Krasnov visited Minsk, where he met with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Shved. The parties noted with satisfaction the high level of interagency cooperation and the successful implementation of common tasks. 

“On the sidelines” of the 32nd meeting of the CCPG in Minsk in June 2022, Igor Krasnov and Andrei Shved touched upon the topic of establishing the circumstances of the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. “On the sidelines” of the 8th meeting of the ICCC in Yekaterinburg in July 2023, compliance with anti-corruption prohibitions and the legal framework in the sphere of cryptocurrency turnover were discussed.

In addition, on-site training events are held on an ongoing basis for prosecutorial staff members of Belarus, interaction between Prosecutors' Offices in border regions is being developed, and cooperation has been established through the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.
