- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
Welcoming his foreign colleague, the head of the Russian supervisory agency thanked him for his hospitality and the opportunity to visit Tashkent again.
Igor Krasnov recalled the state visit of the Russian President to Uzbekistan in May of this year, during which the leaders of the two countries confirmed the importance of strengthening contacts between competent authorities with regard to countering terrorism and extremism, illegal drug and weapons trafficking, and combating cross-border crime. They also noted the importance of deepening interaction and coordination on international platforms, including within the CIS and SCO.
“The vector of development of Russian-Uzbek prosecutorial cooperation, determined during our meeting in Moscow in April of this year, as well as at the meetings of the Prosecutors General of the SCO member states and the CCPG (Coordination Council of Prosecutors General), fully meets the long-term guidelines outlined by the leaders of Russia and Uzbekistan,” Prosecutor General of Russia said. “Alongside, I believe that the time has come to reform the CCPG.”
In this regard, in order to more effectively operate the association, promptly respond to new common challenges and threats of our time, and criminal manifestations, he proposed expanding its Secretariat to include representatives of all Prosecutor General's Offices of the CIS countries. The head of the Russian delegation called the participation of representatives of industry cooperation bodies in its meetings as a condition for increasing the practical component of the Council’s work.
Igor Krasnov said that an additional impetus for the exchange of practical experience will be given by the organization of unscheduled expert meetings within the framework of cooperation between the CIS and the SCO, including in a multilateral format, to discuss emerging pressing problems and jointly search for ways to solve them.
He also proposed involving departmental educational institutions in such events. “I am aware of the developments of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the issue of using digital technologies in the work of prosecutors,” the Prosecutor General of Russia noted. “I am sure that this experience will be in great demand.”
In addition, the head of the Russian supervisory agency took the initiative to study the issue of exchanging groups of prosecutors for advanced training, as well as delegations of lecturers, starting next year.
In conclusion, Igor Krasnov invited his foreign colleague to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2025, at which the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office annually organizes thematic sessions dedicated to the interaction of government bodies and business to reduce administrative pressure on entrepreneurs.
