Turkey extradites the accused of committing particularly serious crimes upon the request of Russia

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey will extradite Olim Makhmudov to bring him to justice under Article 162 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery), Article 105 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (homicide).

According to the investigation in September 2008 in Saint Petersburg the accused and his accomplices attacked the victim. Having seized his car, mobile phone and money, property worth a total of 75 thousand roubles, they fled.

Makhmudov, knowing that there was another person who knew the circumstances of the attack, in January 2009, while in the parked car on the Petergofskoe shosse on the Krasnoselsky District of Saint Petersburg, fatally stabbed him in the chest.

The accused absconded from the law enforcement authorities. At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russian he was put on the international wanted list in June 2011. The extradition request was sent in connection with locating him on the territory of Turkey.

Thanks to close cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and foreign colleagues, positive decision on extradition of Makhmudov was achieved.

The accused will be transferred to Moscow accompanied by the officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and NCB Interpol.
