Today in Moscow a meeting was held between the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov and the Attorney General of the Republic of Angola Hélder Fernando Pitta Gróz.

Welcoming his colleague, Igor Krasnov emphasized the importance of such visits for strengthening professional ties. “As you remember, at the meeting in Rio de Janeiro, I informed you about the great attention that we pay to personnel training,” the Prosecutor General of Russia stated. He said that at the request of his Angolan colleagues, the visit program included a visit to the University of Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation. Noting the importance of the educational resource, first of all, for the exchange of experience, Igor Krasnov confirmed the readiness of Russian prosecutors to come to Angola to conduct educational events on current topics.

The head of the Russian Prosecutor's Office named countering crimes using information and communication technologies as one of them. Cybercrime, as Igor Krasnov pointed out, poses a threat to global security as a whole, and only a coordinated approach is required to combat it.

“As you know, last December the UN General Assembly approved the draft convention against cybercrime. Let me emphasize that this Russian initiative arose within the walls of the agency I head,” Igor Krasnov said. Recalling that the opening ceremony of the convention for high-level signing will be held in Hanoi in the summer, the Prosecutor General of Russia called on Hélder Fernando Pitta Gróz to support this document and join it for the speedy entry into force and application of provisions thereof in practice.

In order to deepen cooperation, the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has prepared a draft interagency Cooperation Program for 2025–2026, which the parties agreed to sign at the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where Igor Krasnov invited his Angolan colleague. The head of the Russian supervisory agency added that at this site the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia traditionally holds a separate session on issues of protecting the rights of entrepreneurs, creating a favorable investment climate and ensuring the rule of law in the economic sphere.

For information: The heads of supervisory agencies are meeting today for the second time. The first contact took place on October 22, 2024, on the sidelines of the G20 First Summit of the Heads of Prosecution Services in Rio de Janeiro, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the agencies. The current visit of the Angolan delegation was a response to Igor Krasnov’s invitation to visit our country in 2025.

The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Angola is divided into the Civil Ministry, the Military Prosecutor's Office, the Higher Qualification Board of the Civil Ministry, and the Provincial Attorney’s Offices. The central competent authority in the field of extradition of persons for criminal prosecution or execution of a sentence in the Republic is the Ministry of Justice, and for the matters of providing legal and law enforcement assistance - the Attorney General's Office.
