- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
The Russian Prosecutor General welcomed his foreign colleague, whom he had previously met in Moscow in August 2024, and thanked him for the warm welcome of the Russian delegation.
The head of the Russian supervisory agency emphasized that for many years the partnership between the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates has been based on mutual respect and trusting dialogue. Regular contacts between Presidents Vladimir Putin and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the highest level play a special role in strengthening such a partnership.
“Our meeting helps to consolidate these efforts on the track of organizing an effective system on combatting corruption, which is very important both for solving internal problems and fulfilling international obligations,” noted Mr. Igor Krasnov.
The Russian Prosecutor General said that representatives of Russia and the United Arab Emirates cooperate "shoulder to shoulder" in the formats of the UN, BRICS, the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE), and other associations. "I am convinced that joint activities on these platforms, the development of common positions on particularly significant issues will continue to contribute to the realization of the potential of international cooperation in the interests of our states," the head of the Russian supervisory agency emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, the key elements of which are the exchange of best experiences and advanced practices of the two departments and the organization of joint events.
In particular, Mr. Igor Krasnov noted that during his visit, heads of structural divisions of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and employees of the departmental university gave lectures on approaches on combating transnational crime and corruption. The head of the Russian supervisory agency proposed expanding the practice of delivering lectures to foreign colleagues, which has already proven its relevance, concluding a cooperation program, and providing for a plan of joint events for the next few years to discuss the most pressing issues.
In addition, the Russian Prosecutor General asked H.E. Humaid Obaid Abushibs to take control of the consideration of the request for the execution of a court decision on the claim of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office against a former Russian police officer regarding the seizure of 5 apartments in Dubai worth over 3 million dirhams.
In conclusion, Mr. Igor Krasnov emphasized that the Russian prosecutor's office is committed to mutually beneficial dialogue in any acceptable format, and wished the United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority headed by H.E. Humaid Obaid Abushibs success in implementing the tasks it’s facing, and invited him to visit Russia.
