  Text

Upon the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Thailand are going to deport a citizen of Russi Mr. Alexander Verba, accused under paragraphs "a", "b" of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion committed by an organized group for the purpose of obtaining property on an especially large scale).

According to the investigation, in March 2013, on the territory of a warehouse in the city of Arsenyev in Primorsky Krai, Alexander Verba and his accomplices, including his brother Vladislav Verba, demanded that an entrepreneur hand them 6 million rubles. Due to the absence of the specified sum of money, the victim handed over 2 million rubles. In addition, using violence and threats, the accomplices were able to obtain from the victim a Toyota Land Cruiser 200, a Kamaz 4310, and two tractors.

After committing the crime, the leader of the organized group, Vladislav Verba, was detained and a preventive measure in the form of detention was imposed upon him. However, Alexander Verba managed to escape. He was put on the international wanted list, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was imposed upon him in absentia.

In March 2025, the Arsenyev City Court of Primorsky Krai found Vladislav Verba guilty of committing crimes and sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony, with a fine of 900 thousand rubles, with a restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months. The court also decided to satisfy the relevant claims, and upheld the arrest previously imposed on the defendant's property.

Subsequently, in April 2025, information was received about the detention of Alexander Verba in connection with his possible violation of migration laws of the Kingdom of Thailand and his detention in a Bangkok detention center.

At the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, thanks to the coordination of actions of Russian law enforcement agencies, the deportation of Alexander Verba from Thailand is now feasible.
