Today, at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, Igor Krasnov received a delegation from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar headed by Thida Oo, Union Minister of Legal Affairs and Attorney General.

Welcoming his colleague, Igor Krasnov noted the open and friendly atmosphere that creates conditions for constructive professional dialogue and allows maintaining a stable dynamic in the development of partnership relations.

The parties signed the Protocol to the Agreement on Mutual Protection of Citizens from Abuse in the Sphere of International Justice. According to the head of the Russian supervisory agency, this important document will serve as a tool for implementing guarantees of protection against the increasing abuses by a number of foreign states and pseudo-international judicial bodies.

"The course chosen by our agencies once again confirms the mutual focus of Russia and Myanmar on observing the fundamental immutable principles of international law – sovereign equality of states, non-interference in internal affairs, respect for human rights and freedoms," said Igor Krasnov.

He expressed gratitude to Thida Oo for receiving Russian experts in Naypyidaw last November and high-level organizing lectures for representatives of Myanmar's competent authorities. The Prosecutor General of Russia confirmed the readiness to continue sharing best practices by organizing such events on a systematic basis. "I consider it useful to involve Myanmar experts in them, who have professional skills in countering modern challenges and threats," added Igor Krasnov.

The Russian Prosecutor General also called cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere important. Igor Krasnov said that two candidates from Myanmar have already successfully qualified for learning the Russian language at the preparatory faculty of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia for further studying at the University of the Prosecutor's Office. "Currently, their documents for training are being processed; the training itself begins on September 1," the Prosecutor General added.

At the end of the meeting, Igor Krasnov confirmed the openness of the Russian prosecutor's office to professional dialogue, expanding cooperation and exchanging best practices.

Today, the third program event on professional training of prosecutors will also take place. It will make it possible to use mutual experience to further improve the activities of the prosecutorial services of the two states.

Background information: This is the fourth meeting between Igor Krasnov and Thida Oo. Previously, the heads of agencies met in March 2023 in the city of Naypyidaw as part of Igor Krasnov's first trip to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, in September 2023 – on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, and also in July 2024 – in Moscow. There is a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Legal Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as well as a Cooperation Program for 2024-2025.
