On behalf of Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, his deputy Petr Gorodov spoke at the session "Current Issues in Combating International Cybercrime".
In his speech, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia noted the need to consolidate the efforts of all countries to effectively combat international cybercrime. The special importance of the interagency working group on combating information crime, created in 2020 by Igor Krasnov, was emphasized. Within the framework of this group, a draft Convention against Cybercrime was developed and submitted to the United Nations. The document was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2024, and is scheduled to be opened for signing this year in the capital of Vietnam.
The session participants, one of whom was the Attorney General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Thida Oo, also discussed issues of protecting personal data and combating the involvement of teen-agers in fraud.
Moreover, following the instructions of the Russian Prosecutor General, Petr Gorodov continued to discuss current issues of international cooperation with the heads of the Prosecutor General's Offices and other competent authorities of foreign states from the Republic of Türkiye, Mongolia, Kuwait and the Republic of Tajikistan at the forum.
The session "AI-Based Regulatory and Supervisory Activity" was also held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, in which Artem Kononenko, Head of the Department for Supervision of Observance of the Rights of Entrepreneurs of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, took part. He emphasized the unprecedented reduction in administrative pressure on business achieved by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in recent years, and also noted the relevance and importance of using artificial intelligence in control and supervisory activities.
