“This year marks 69 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Cambodia. Over these years, the two countries have built trusting contacts based on mutual respect and support. This also applies to the law enforcement block,” said the Prosecutor General of Russia, welcoming his foreign colleague.

Igor Krasnov noted that the common goals of the prosecutor's offices of Russia and Cambodia are to ensure the rule of law, principles of justice, the inevitability of punishment for crimes, and the protection of the rights of citizens, the interests of society and the state. The foundation for cooperation between the agencies was the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Vladivostok last September.

“By implementing its provisions, we have begun an active exchange of best practices in organizing prosecutorial activities,” said Igor Krasnov. – As part of my visit, the heads of departments of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and experts from our departmental University gave lectures to representatives of the competent authorities of Cambodia on topics of mutual interest."

The head of the Russian supervisory agency proposed to continue cooperation in the format of holding mutual on-site training events for prosecutors of Russia and Cambodia in priority areas of cooperation enshrined in the Memorandum. He also confirmed the willingness to share Russian experience in countering the most pressing challenges and threats, including the fight against digital crime, terrorism, extremism, corruption, money laundering, illegal arms and drug trafficking, and expressed interest in studying the experience of Cambodian colleagues.

"I am convinced that the signing of the Cooperation Program for 2025-2026 today will be another step in the development of professional contacts between the Prosecutor General's Offices of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Cambodia," said Igor Krasnov. – Already this year, within the framework of the first program event, we will have to consider the prospects for introducing digital technologies into prosecutorial activities and the use of artificial intelligence in our work.”

The head of the Russian supervisory agency named scientific and educational activities as another priority area of cooperation between the two prosecutor's offices and reported that foreign citizens have the opportunity to obtain a five-year higher education at the departmental University of the Prosecutor's Office. If they do not speak Russian, a corresponding one-year free education is provided.

If foreign colleagues are interested, Igor Krasnov proposed selecting applicants from Cambodia who wish to receive an education in Russia and sending the appropriate applications.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the Cooperation Program between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecution Office at the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Cambodia for 2025-2026.
