Igor Krasnov was met at the steps of the plane by Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Chea Leang, Prosecutor General at the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the leadership of the country's Ministry of Justice.

This is the first visit of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation to Cambodia in the history of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries. In Phnom Penh, Igor Krasnov will hold talks with the heads of relevant competent authorities, and also discuss issues of bilateral cooperation with other officials. It is planned to sign a number of documents that will help strengthen and further develop relations with foreign colleagues.

The Prosecutor General of Russia began his trip by laying wreaths at the Independence Monument and the monument to His Majesty the King Father of Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk, the Cambodian leader who achieved the country's independence.

Background: the cooperation of the Russian supervisory agency with the competent authorities of Cambodia began more than 10 years ago, including within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed in 2016 between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Cambodia. In September last year, on the sidelines of the IX Eastern Economic Forum, Igor Krasnov and Chea Leang signed an interagency Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, which became the foundation for activating joint measures to ensure the rule of law and protect the rights of citizens.
