At the airport, the head of the Russian supervisory agency was met by Vladimir Kalinin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, and the leadership of the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor of Laos.

This is the first visit of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation to the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the history of cooperation between the supervisory agencies of the two countries.

In Vientiane, Igor Krasnov will hold talks with his colleague, within the framework of which the parties will sign a Cooperation Program aimed at strengthening and further developing bilateral relations. Meetings of the Prosecutor General of Russia with the heads of relevant competent authorities and other officials are also planned in the capital of Laos.

Background: the heads of the supervisory agencies of the two countries met for the first time in September last year "on the sidelines" of the IX Eastern Economic Forum. The President of the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor of Laos Xaysana Khotphouthone, visited Vladivostok to participate in the EEF events at the invitation of Igor Krasnov. Following the talks, the parties signed an inter-agency cooperation agreement. The document became the foundation for interaction between the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and the Office of the Supreme People's Prosecutor of Laos on a wide range of issues, including the legal basis for free education of citizens of the Republic at the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.
