At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Ecuador will extradite Anatoly Shusharin to face criminal charges under Parts 2, 3, 4 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in receiving payments).
According to the investigation, the accused, together with his accomplices, stole money by receiving compensation from the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for technical rehabilitation equipment that the disabled did not actually acquire. The total damage exceeded 6 million rubles.
Since the accused had fled from law enforcement agencies, he was placed on the international wanted list in April 2024 by order of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.
The extradition request was sent in January 2025 in connection with Shusharin’s detention on the territory of the Republic of Ecuador.
Thanks to cooperation with foreign colleagues, we were able to achieve a positive decision on with regard to his extradition.
Due to the lack of direct air traffic between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ecuador, agreements were reached with the competent authorities of Panama and Turkey regarding the transit of the accused.
Accompanied by the officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the National Central Bureau of Interpol, Shusharin will be taken to Moscow.
