The competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany by request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation have extradited Russian national Andrey GRIGOROV to Russia.

By the Judgment of the Novoaltaisk City Court, Altai Territory, of November 27, 2018, Mr. GRIGOROV was convicted under Article 30, part 3; Article 159, part 3 (attempted large-scale fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced to 2 years and 8 months of imprisonment.

According to the Judgment, on February 1, 2017, in Novoaltaisk Mr. GRIGOROV met with a buyer in order to exchange cars for extra charge and stole the buyer’s money and property to the amount of 267 thousand roubles, which was left by the victim in the GRIGOROV’s car. However, the latter was arrested by traffic policemen and brought to the police station.

Since Mr. GRIGOROV had not appeared before the court and escaped, the judicial proceeding was carried out in his absentia and a judgment of guilt was issued against him. Then by order of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Mr. GRIGOROV was placed on the international wanted list.

According to the NCB INTERPOL Germany, on January 30, 2020, he was arrested in this country.

Thanks to coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and its close collaboration with the competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany, on July 7, 2020, the extradition was granted. However the actual surrender of Mr. GRIGOROV was suspended due to the fact that he had been serving the sentence for a crime, committed in Germany, and the term of sentence should have ended on March 31, 2021.

Mr. Andrey GRIGOROV will be convoyed to Moscow by officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Russian NCB INTERPOL.
