- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation
Welcoming the foreign colleague, the Prosecutor General of Russia thanked him for warm reception and organization of the First Summit of the Heads of Prosecution Services of G20 members.
Igor Krasnov emphasized that the relations between Russia and Brazil are developing actively, basing on mutual trust, respect for each other’s interests.
The Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Federative Republic of Brazil Vladimir Putin and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva repeatedly confirmed their mutual commitment to develop strategic partnership.
According to Igor Krasnov, the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries are also capable of making significant contribution to the implementation of the planned course by intensifying interdepartmental cooperation on the widest range of tasks they face.
“The topics of the discussion outlined at the upcoming Summit clearly reflect the trends of ongoing global processes, which, certainly, require the adoption of coordinated measures”, the head of the Russian supervisory agency said.
“As is known, no country can fight against modern crime on its own. This is precisely why I consider this format of multilateral interaction as an excellent opportunity to convey to my colleagues the main positions and approaches to solving current problems and to develop mutually acceptable steps in the fight against cross-border challenges and threats”, the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized.
“A striking example of this is the Meeting of BRICS Prosecution Services representatives held in June in Russia, to which your deputy made a significant contribution”, the Prosecutor General said.
Taking into account the transition of the BRICS presidency to Brazil from next year, he invited his colleague to support the implementation of the initiatives launched this year, including the multilateral agreement on cooperation between the BRICS Prosecution Services in the sphere of recovery of assets from crime.
In addition, he noted the need to make greater use of practical capabilities of the offices they lead. “First of all, I mean holding regular meetings, trainings, workshops to exchange best practices. I am confident that such a format will contribute to consolidation of efforts to counter modern cross-border threats, including terrorism and extremism, cyber fraud, use of virtual assets for criminal purposes, and protection and restoring citizens’ rights”, the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized.
In order to implement this the head of the Russian supervisory agency proposed signing a new cooperation program at the next meeting. Igor Krasnov once again emphasized the openness of the Russian prosecutor’s office to the development of professional dialogue, deepening and expanding law enforcement cooperation between the countries.

the beginning of cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries was laid in 2006 and was secured by signing of the Memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
