The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic has sentenced 32-year-old US citizen Justin Mishler in absentia. He has been found guilty under Article 359 part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict).
The court has established that from January 2023 to June 2024 Mishler arrived on the territory of Ukraine and voluntarily joined the International Legion, where he underwent military training. The US citizen was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniform and special equipment. Mishler participated in military operations on the Ukrainian side at various points of battle contact.
The amount of the reward received by the mercenary is equivalent to more than 1.2 million rubles.
In 2023 Mishler joined the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the “Knights of the Winter Campaign” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which conducted military operations in Bakhmut and Maryinka, on the Saur-Mogila mound and in the village of Marinovka.
Taking into consideration the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Mishler in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime correctional colony.

The Donetsk Court sentenced US mercenary in absentia
