Igor Krasnov met with Saud bin Abdullah Almuajeb on the margins of the First Summit of Heads of Prosecution Services of G20 members.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency noted the consistent development of contacts between the prosecution services of Russia and Saudi Arabia.

“This year the implementation of the first cooperation program was completed, within the framework of which prosecutors of the two agencies exchanged experience in such topical areas as countering environmental and economic crimes, combating cybercrime, and protecting the rights of minors. I am confident that this format aroused interest and was useful for both parties,” Igor Krasnov said.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency invited his foreign colleague to consider and further sign a cooperation program, which will include activities on supervisory support of tourism and protection of tourists’ rights.

“I consider these issues important, given the prospects for the development of this area of interstate relations. Our experts should not only exchange information, but also develop a clear algorithm for prompt response to any possible violations of the rights of Russians in Saudi Arabia and citizens of the Kingdom in Russia,” Igor Krasnov noted.

The Russian Prosecutor General also recalled that during the meeting in Riyadh in 2022, the issue of establishing direct flights between the countries was discussed. “A lot of work has been done since then. The relevant activities of the Federal Air Transport Agency, the state body responsible for this, are under my control,” Igor Krasnov said.

He emphasized that at least two air carriers ready for such flights have been identified to date, and the only obstacle to their resumption is the lack of guarantees from the Saudi party that aircraft will not be detained at the request of third countries in connection with illegal sanctions.

“I am confident that the opening of direct flights will lead to an increase in tourist flows and will benefit both states and our citizens,” the Russian Prosecutor General noted.

Igor Krasnov drew attention to the unity of approaches to counter the spread of terrorist and extremist ideologies and other dangerous crimes, including those committed with the use of modern computer technologies.

“The fight against them will be effective only “shoulder to shoulder” with reliable partners, among which I include you, dear Mr. Almuajeb!” Igor Krasnov expressed confidence.
