Welcoming his Angolan colleague, the head of the Russian supervisory agency noted: “Russia and Angola have been linked by almost half a century of diplomatic relations. Cooperation between our countries, based on the principle of mutual respect, is actively developing in many areas. I am confident that today’s meeting will lay the foundation for constructive contacts on the law enforcement track as well.”

Igor Krasnov spoke about the powers vested in the Russian prosecution service and proposed holding joint events to exchange experience in prosecutorial activities and best practices in countering modern forms of crime.

“I am convinced that the signing of a memorandum of understanding today will contribute to the intensification of our cooperation. I express my firm commitment to further cooperation on a wide range of legal issues,” the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized.

Igor Krasnov invited the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Angola to pay a working visit to Russia next year.

In conclusion, the heads of the supervisory agencies confirmed the reached agreements by signing a memorandum of understanding.

For information:

Igor Krasnov’s meeting with Hélder Fernando Pitta Gróz on the margins of the G20 Prosecutors’ Summit is the first one. In 2022, representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia and the competent authority of Angola held negotiations within the framework of the 90th session of the Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi. The Memorandum of Understanding signed today is the first document to formalize the procedure for cooperation between the prosecution services of the two countries on a wide range of legal issues.

Igor Krasnov, during a meeting with Ángel Valencia Vásquez, National Prosecutor of the Republic of Chile, noted that the intensive processes of cross-border movement of capital, the criminal use of virtual assets, the rapid growth of migration flows and other challenges dictate the need to increase joint activities to ensure law and order and protect the rights of citizens.

“I am confident that success in countering modern threats can only be achieved by combining the efforts of competent authorities and developing common approaches in combating criminal manifestations,” the head of the Russian supervisory agency stated.

Igor Krasnov emphasized that the interagency cooperation agreement, which will be signed today, will be the foundation for the development of cooperation.

“As practice shows, the implementation of such agreements helps to strengthen working contacts and significantly expands the professional dialog on topical issues of prosecutorial activity. Moreover, this document will serve as a basis for the development of mutual contacts in the scientific and educational sphere, given that our agency's university is one of the leading law schools in Russia, actively participating in international cooperation,” the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized.

“The Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Chile share common work in a number of cross-border law enforcement formats, such as the APEC Anti-Corruption and Transparency Working Group. One of the employees of the agency I head represents Russia in the APEC Regional Anti-Corruption Authorities and Law Enforcement Agencies Network. The established trusting contacts between our representatives in this format contributed a lot to this meeting. Constructive cooperation is also developing within the framework of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities. Last month, the Russian prosecution service was re-elected to the Steering Committee of this association,” Igor Krasnov emphasized.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency noted that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation is open to developing and strengthening Russian-Chilean cooperation on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with the signing of an interagency cooperation agreement.

For information:

Igor Krasnov and Ángel Valencia Vásquez met for the first time during the Summit of Heads of Prosecution Services of G20 members. Despite the successful experience of joint work in a number of cross-border law enforcement formats, bilateral Russian-Chilean negotiations between representatives of the prosecution services have not been held before, and the interagency cooperation agreement signed today is the first document regulating issues of interaction between the prosecution services of the two countries.
