The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic has sentenced 37-year-old French citizen Kevin Philippe Patrick Demont in absentia. He has been found guilty under Article 359 part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict).
The court has established that between February and July 2022 Demont arrived on the territory of Ukraine and voluntarily joined the International Legion, where he underwent military training. The French citizen was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniform and special equipment. Demont participated in military operations on the Ukrainian side at various points of battle contact.
The amount of the reward received by the mercenary is equivalent to more than 315 thousand rubles.
Taking into consideration the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Demont in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime correctional colony.
